Summary of the Tundra Biome
The coldest of all biomes is Tundra. Tundra means tunturia, or treeless plain. Some recognize it for its extremely low temperatures, little precipitation, low biodiversity , and short growing seasons. Tundra is separated into two types: arctic tundra and alpine tundra. Plants and animals in the tundra have to adapt or use natural selection to survive.
Climatogram
A climatogram is a graph that averages weather in a Biome over a certain period of time. The graph is measured in Celcius. The climatogram is important to us because it can tell how much precipitation an area or biome has. Animals that live in the tundra have special adaptations that allow them to survive the extreme temperatures and conditions that are present in a tundra. One animal that uses adaptations in tundra is the Artcic Fox. The Arctic Fox has short ears and a short, round body with a thick coat to minimize the amount of skin exposed to the frigid air or to keep warm. Biodiverssity is very low in the tundra so if something happens to one population then it'll happen to the other. For example owls eat lummings, if the lummings decrease so will the owls.
