Humans in the Biosphere
“How can humans deliberatively or inadvertently alter the equilibrium in your biomes?” Humans effect the Tundra in both negative and positive ways. Some negative ways are hunting, oil mines, and global warming. Hunting is one of the reasons animals are going extinct. Oil mines also has a negative impact. They destroy animals' homes and also plant life. The biggest impact is global warming. Global warming is caused by gas not being able to leave the atomosphere. It melts ice caps creating an unstable enviroment. It also heats the climate making it unsuitable for the animals and vegetation. Believe it or not, humans do have a positive impact on the tundra. For example they have made oil transporters designed to do as little damage as possible. Also have created jobs that protect aniamls. They have also increased the idea of recycling in many places. What is the value of biodiversity? Tundra biodiversity is very low compared to other biomes. Sme animals that live in the tundra include: arctic fox, lemmings, caribou, gray wolves, reindeer, polar bears, and moose.
