Soil/Succession
Around one fifth of the world in tundra. Like said in the home tab, tundra is the coldest of all biomes. There is arctic tundra and alpine tundra. Tundra winters are long and cold, whereas tundra summers are short. Under the soil the Earth is frozen and never melts. The profile succession in the tundrastarts with a fire which ruins all plants that were grwoing there. Next is grass begins grwoing back again, and soon enough the plants are back. Primary succession in the tundra would probably begin after a glacier has retreated.
In primary succession pioneer species like mosses, lichen, algae and fungus as well as other abiotic factors like wind and water start to "normalize" the habitat. Secondary succesion in the tundra would begin after a tundra fire. Tundra fires are rare because they must reach a certain threshold before spreading. The sparse vegetation makes it difficult for fires to take hold.
